LisaJLisa Johansson has been teaching flute for 22 years. She is a recording and performance artist with music group “Song of the Lakes,” the founder and director of Northwind Flute Studios and the Syrinx Flute Choir. Her students number in the hundreds, many of whom have gone on into musical studies in college. Besides concert flute, her talent also extends to alto and bass flutes, pennywhistle, piccolo, recorder and vocals.

Lisa’s specialty is the Suzuki method. She was a student of Toshio Takahashi, the man who originally adapted the Suzuki methodology from violin to flute. She is also a certified Orff music instructor and is currently the upper elementary music specialist The Children’s House independent Montessori school, where she has taught for the past 9 years in the kindergarten, lower elementary and upper elementary music programs. She holds a degree in Liberal Science from Kent State University, where she also studied art and design.

With Song of the Lakes, Lisa has toured the United States, Canada and Europe for over 26 years. The group boasts seven recordings with the eighth on its way.
