Mark Peters
Mark Peters began his musical training at an early age. Piano, organ, and bassoon studies culminated with his matriculation at Concordia University in River Forest, IL. Mark’s college studies included organ, church music, composition, voice, and bassoon. Prior to graduation from Concordia, Mark gave two full recitals on organ and bassoon, as well as several recitals featuring his compositions.
Mark has studied organ with Scott Hyslop, William Kuhn, Steven Wente, and Jeremy Chesman. He has also taken master classes with Martin Jean and Gerre Hancock.
After college graduation, Mark served as Minister of Music at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Staten Island, NY. Two years later, he accepted a position as Cantor at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Monette, MO, where he led adult, hand bell, and hand chime choirs. Mark recently moved to northern MI and currently serves as the music minister at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Leland, as well as Cantor for the Traverse Bay Circuit Chorus.
Mark has played bassoon in the University of Michigan Youth Orchestra and Concordia Wind Ensemble. He studied bassoon with Mary Beth Minnis of Central Michigan University.
Mark shares his passion of music with his wife, Kathyrn, and their two young daughters.
